General Submission Guidelines

The Dopamine Society invites you to submit an abstract for a symposium at the Dopamine 2026 Congress.

Symposia are intended to complement the more general plenary and keynote lectures of the congress while sharing thought-provoking science and debate. Symposia can be used to present conclusive evidence from a series of studies or to provoke discussion on areas where more work is required. There are no rules related to content, other than that the submissions must be of high quality and relevant to Dopamine Congress delegates.

General Information

All symposia will be evaluated and selected by the International Scientific Program Committee with priority given to: 

  • topics that address novel or contentious issues 
  • bridge between basic and clinical fields 
  • include a diverse range of speakers that bring unique approaches or perspectives to the topic 
  • encourage in-depth discussion and debate between presenters and the audience 
  • Session proposals that include post-doctoral fellows are encouraged but not required 

Successful submissions will be informed of their inclusion in the 2026 Congress program in October 2025.  

Please note: we cannot provide any support for travel or other expenses for symposia speakers or organisers.

Details

  • All symposia must have four speakers.  The session chair can be one of the four speakers, but this is not an obligation 
  • The time allotted for each symposium is 100 minutes, organized as four 20-min talks, each followed by 5 minutes for questions 
  • At the time of your proposal submission, all speakers must have already agreed to participate in the session 
  • Speakers should understand that no honorarium or complimentary registration is given for participation 
  • The Scientific Program Committee reserves the right to ask an organizer to modify their symposium to ensure balance and quality for the congress program 
  • Speakers may only be a speaker in one symposium

Submission Guidelines

The submitter is responsible for assurance of adherence to the submission guidelines listed below and the merit of the presentation. To submit a proposal, please read and adhere to the submission guidelines below: 

General Information: 

  • Prepare to enter the name, affiliation/institution, and email address for each of the symposia presenters.  Do not include departments, city, or country in affiliation field. 
  • Prepare a symposium title (max 225 characters including spaces – approximately 40 words).  The title should be entered in sentence case only (capitalizing the first letter of the first word only, unless otherwise required).

Content Guidelines

  • Session title to be entered as sentence case where only the first letter of the first word is capitalized unless required by proper nouns, names, etc. 
  • Abbreviations (of compounds, for example) must be spelled out in full at the first use. Do not use abbreviations in the title. Use only standard abbreviations. 
  • Capitalize the first letter of all trade names.

Submission Guidelines

1. Include the name and affiliation of your symposium Chair.

2. Provide a short summary of the session. This will be used to promote the session.

3. Select the appropriate topic area for your symposium. This will be used for session planning purposes.

4. Complete the general abstract details that includes a brief description of the topic, and justifies why the proposed topic is novel, contentious, or highly relevant for discussion (max 1800 characters including spaces, approximately 300 words)

5. Provide a brief description of how each speaker will offer a unique approach/perspective to the proposed topic. If successful, each speaker will be invited to submit an individual abstract for their specific presentation within the symposium no later than December 1, 2025 (max 600 characters including spaces, approximately 100 words) per speaker. Please include each speaker’s name.
